The project expanded the Concourse C Security Checkpoint from four to five lanes and modified the mechanical system serving the entire checkpoint area by adding a new rooftop air handling unit and distribution system to increase cooling capacity.
Detailed construction sequencing criteria were developed to ensure passenger safety and comply with a critical TSA security requirement for the new lane to maintain total separation and control of departing and arriving passengers through all phases of construction.
Two by-pass lanes and security gates in the existing checkpoint area were reconfigured to provide the code required minimum emergency egress width from the Concourse.
The existing aluminum storefront and laminated glass division wall was reused where possible to meet budget requirements, with new matching materials inserted as required to complete the wall.
