The Messer / Mayer Grist Mill located on the Coney Creek was constructed in 1871 and retains most of its original milling equipment.
The project included replacement / reconstruction of the failing fieldstone / lime mortar foundation and refurbishing the mill drive system which includes the Leffel Water Turbine, penstock and associated hurst frame.
The overall project goal is to reconstruct the dam, restore the millpond and restore the mill to operational condition powered by the original turbine.
The Mill and Site is listed on the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places and is approved for placement on the National Register of Historic Places. The Mill is a Washington County Landmark.
