Milwaukee City Hall Historic Restoration

Project Description

Due to the affects of time and the elements, the entire building exterior required stabilization and restoration. The project began with a forensic investigation of the façade and roofs. After identification of the types and degrees of deterioration, repair and reconstruction strategies were developed which involved brick, terra cotta and sandstone masonry repairs, replacement and reconstruction, window replacement, exterior lighting replacement, built-up roof replacements, copper and slate roofing replacement and decorative copper restoration and replacement.

A Historic Structures Report was prepared to guide the repair and reconstruction efforts, which ultimately led to the building being awarded National Historic Landmark status.
